Many machines and systems continue to operate reliably even after decades. However, long-term operation is often hampered by individual components that are no longer available or can no longer be repaired cost-effectively.

Initial situation

A customer had been using a control unit from the T15 terminal series mounted on a support arm for more than ten years. Following a fault, it became apparent that repair was no longer cost-effective. At the same time, the original unit was no longer available.

For this application, the product range offers the A15/A19 control panel series in a 4:3 format with a touchscreen and integrated keyboard. However, due to the changed design, the new operator terminal could not be simply integrated into the existing system, as it is a control panel system.

Our solution

Instead of modifying the support arm or the entire machine mechanism, tci developed a bespoke adapter solution.

A precisely fitted stainless steel housing was designed and manufactured for the customer, which securely and precisely adapts the newA15 control panel to the existing support arm. Both the mechanical requirements and the required IP protection rating were fully taken into account.

The result: the new control unit could be integrated into the existing system without any problems – without the need for costly modifications to the machine.
